![]() Hence, the application of sky bridges is intensely increased. Sky bridge can help to develop buildings and city area horizontally by connecting two or more than two adjacent buildings. Due to the aforementioned population growth, deficiency of supply in land causes to develop buildings vertically and close to each other. Although sky bridges have existed for years, the application and implementation of them have recently increased in modern architectural novelties because of extremely improvement in new thinking and new technologies in modern architectural tools and plans. 2.1 Sky bridge connecting of coupled buildingsĪ Sky Bridge is an elevated type of pedestrian between two or more buildings in an urban area for connections or walking in recreational zones as walking tourist attraction. Therefore, in our study connecting two adjacent buildings by Sky Bridge as a rigid connection is investigated. In a number of studies, the rigid connection has usually been compared with other connections such as passive, semi-active, active and hybrid. He suggested that this connection could be successful if the floors of each buildings were at the same level. For the first time Westermo connected two adjacent buildings by a link and beam system which transmitted the forces to the floors of each buildings. The simplest connection of two adjacent buildings is that connecting them with rigid connector. Rouzbeh Doroudi, Seyed Hossein Hosseini Lavassani, in Structures, 2021 2 Rigid connecting of coupled buildings Then select these members by the group name and move them to the correct location of the towers in the ETABS model. When it is first imported, by default, all the members imported are selected by ETABS, therefore, it is ideal to name these members as a new group. Therefore, after the 3D model of the two towers is set up, a 3D model of sky bridge is first setup in AutoCAD, then it is imported into ETABS. However, it is difficult to model the sky bridge directly in ETABS, as it occupies several storys. As ETABS is a story-based program, when all the typical storys have been defined, it is easier to setup a 3D model through duplications of typical floors generated based on floor plan AutoCAD drawings. As the layout of the building is relatively regular, the model is first built in ETABS by importing the AutoCAD drawings of floor plan into ETABS as the templates. The building features two towers linked by a podium as well as a sky bridge. A detailed modeling technique can be found in Ref. In this section, the way to set up this complicated model will be briefly introduced. The 'Bridge of Time' was prepared with elements of augmented reality in cooperation with the state-owned enterprise LESY CR (Forests of the Czech Republic) and the Museum of Czechoslovak Fortifications of 1935-38.įor visitors, it will be a one-way walk, and after exiting from the other side, they will step on a paved pathway in a forest where they will get to know about the region's history.Feng Fu, in Design and Analysis of Tall and Complex Structures, 2018 4.2.2.3 Model setup methods ![]() It shows the history of Moravia, steps to protect the environment, and the life story of a local family through 10 panels. ![]() The visitors crossing the bridge will get to learn about the local history through an educational trail called the “Bridge of Time'. The bridge is suspended by six main supporting ropes and 60 wind ropes of different diameters spanning 1.2 meters in width for the walkway. Tourists will enter the bridge at an elevation of 1,125 meters and exit it 10 meters higher. Hanging 95 meters (312 feet) above a valley, the Sky Bridge 721 begins at the Slamenka Chalet near the existing Skywalk over the valley and connects to the side of Chlum Hill. It has been built using 1,030 cubic meters of concrete, resulting in a total weight of 405 tonnes, with the total weight of the ropes reaching 158 tonnes and that of the auxiliary structures as 20 tonnes. The bridge took nearly two years to complete and cost around 8.4 million dollars to construct. The Sky Bridge 721 has surpassed 516 Arouca (suspension bridge in Portugal), which formerly held the title of the world's longest suspension bridge. ![]() Located in the Dolni Morava mountain resort, the footbridge is about a 2.5-hour drive from Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. The 721 m-long bridge will provide spectacular views of the cloud-shredded Jeseniky mountains as well as an exciting experience for its visitors. The world's longest suspension bridge, called Sky Bridge 721, opened in the Czech Republic on.
